What are your business hours?
Because Capitol Hill Clothiers offers concierge appointments, our business hours are whenever you need a fitting done! Every customer works directly with the owner, Anthony Bolognese, and has direct access to him for any questions. Fittings can be scheduled any time of day, any day of the week.
How much does a custom suit cost?
Capitol Hill Clothiers’ custom suits range in cost from $2,000 to $6,500+ based on fabric choice (from English wools to Italian cashmere and even some 24kt gold pinstripe fabrics!) and customization options. Most of the time, the only additional costs come from a fully custom-designed lining (+$100) or real bullhorn buttons (+$10)
How long does it take to have a suit made?
A Capitol Hill Clothiers fitting generally takes between 1-2 hours and your garments will be delivered 4-5 weeks after your fitting. Garments can be rushed for a fee depending on the options selected. For more detailed information, please reach out directly via the Contact Page.
How do I care for my custom suit?
Capitol Hill Clothiers’ custom suits are pretty simple to take care of. Hang the jacket on a shoulder-shaped hanger to prevent creasing and allow the garment to lay naturally even when not worn. Steam your garments regularly and dry-clean only when needed (generally at the end of each heavy-use season). Store them in a fabric garment bag to allow the fabric to breathe, and just like a finely-tuned motor, take it out for use every once in a while to keep it fresh, even if it’s a once-a-year garment. Be aware if you select mother-of-pearl buttons for your garments that they are very fragile and can be broken by dry-cleaners if not properly cared for. Make a point of telling your dry cleaner about the buttons and check all buttons before leaving upon pickup.
To learn more about how to care for your custom suit, we wrote a blog post about it! Check that out for more information.
What if I need alterations?
Though your suit is custom-made, human error can always be a factor. If your garment needs adjustments upon your final fitting, Capitol Hill Clothiers will cover the cost of alterations to ensure that the first time you use your custom garments, they fit like a glove. If you gain or lose weight at any point after the final fitting, Capitol Hill Clothiers works with Dryy DC to provide tailoring for Capitol Hill Clothiers customers.
How does the free photoshoot work?
