Q&A With Capitol Hill Clothiers

Capitol Hill Clothiers gets a lot of questions about how we operate, what our capabilities are, and how to work with us. Here are a few questions answered just for you!

“What is the history of Capitol Hill Clothiers and how it became a go-to DC clothing store?”

Capitol Hill Clothiers was founded in 2018 and has been a fixture in the DC clothing scene ever since. Our reputation as a top-tier Washington DC custom tailor has been built on quality, attention to detail, and exceptional customer service. Capitol Hill Clothiers doesn’t have a brick-and-mortar location, but the concierge custom clothing services we offer have become a staple for working professionals who demand premium clothing that is tailored to their unique needs.

“What sets Capitol Hill Clothiers apart from other custom tailors in the area?”

What sets Capitol Hill Clothiers apart is our unique selling proposition. We offer a personalized shopping experience that starts with a one-on-one consultation with Anthony Bolognese, owner and operator of Capitol Hill Clothiers. The consultation begins with a pour of the customer’s preferred drink, brought complimentary to each fitting, and an optional cigar to get to know the customer. Next is a wardrobe audit in-home to evaluate each individual customer’s current clothing selection, lifestyle, likes and dislikes, all of that information is helpful in making sure we create the best and most useful garments for that person. Then comes the design and measurement portion of the custom fitting. Capitol Hill Clothiers offers more design options than any other tailor in DC and measures every aspect of a customer to ensure a proper fit and attractive garment. Each piece we create is designed to fit not just your body but also your lifestyle, expressing your personal style while maintaining a professional look. Lastly, after every customer receives their custom garment, Capitol Hill Clothiers offers a complimentary photoshoot in that garment!

“What services do you offer at Capitol Hill Clothiers?”

We offer a full range of custom clothing services that includes custom-made suits, jackets, pants, overcoats, skirts, and shirts. These can be made from a customer’s choice of any of the highest-end fabric mills in the world, such as Loro Piana, Scabal, Vitale Barberis Canonico, and many more. We also offer alterations through a partnership with a local high-end provider.

“Can you tell us more about your custom women's suits?”

Custom women's suits in DC were surprisingly difficult to find before Capitol Hill Clothiers. Our women’s suits are just as custom as our men’s suits and always ensure a perfect fit. We understand that women's clothing options can often be limited, which is why we work closely with each client to create a custom-tailored suit that is professional, stylish, and unique. We also go against the fashion industry in that the pockets on our women’s custom suits actually work! We offer a wide variety of fun fabric options, colors, and design styles to ensure every woman finds exactly what she is looking for.

“Who generally buys from Capitol Hill Clothiers and how do you cater to their needs?”

There are a lot of different working professionals in the DC area but generally speaking, Capitol Hill Clothiers tends to serve business owners, lobbyists, lawyers, and director-level and above members of various companies both on the Hill and adjacent to it. We cater to their needs by listening to their expectations and designing garments with rigorous attention to detail that reflects their unique style and needs both personally and professionally. We also develop long-lasting relationships with our clients so we can support their evolving wardrobe needs.
